Why Did Gold Prices Move Lower Today?

Gold prices remained volatile on September 2 amid movements in the US dollar, Treasury yields, crude oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty. Financial Express reported that expectations surrounding US interest-rate policy and stronger-dollar conditions were weighing on gold demand.

Reuters reported that international gold prices later recovered by more than 1% as the US dollar and Treasury yields pulled back from recent highs. Investors are closely watching upcoming US employment data for clues about the Federal Reserve's next policy decision.

What Buyers Should Know

24K gold represents the highest purity, while 22K gold is commonly used for jewellery. The rates listed above are reference/market rates. The final jewellery bill can be higher after adding 3% GST, making charges and other applicable costs. Buyers should therefore confirm the final rate with their local jeweller before purchasing.

Note: Gold prices can differ slightly between cities, jewellers and data providers and may change multiple times during the day.
