Share Market 21 August 2026: Nifty, Sensex, Bank Nifty

The Indian stock market ended the trading session on Friday, August 21, 2026, largely flat, with benchmark indices showing only marginal movement. The Nifty 50 closed at 24,252, gaining around 20.15 points or 0.08%, while the BSE Sensex ended at 77,540.83, up 3.11 points.

The Bank Nifty closed at around 57,761.95, gaining approximately 0.46%, supported by buying in select private-sector banking stocks.

The biggest pressure among these stocks came from Trent and Maruti Suzuki, while IT stocks including HCL Technologies, Infosys and Tech Mahindra also remained under pressure.

Market Highlights

The session showed selective buying rather than a broad-based rally. Power stocks and selected financial companies supported the benchmarks, while automobile, technology and some consumer stocks faced selling pressure.
